PIT NOTES: Page 1

Welcome to round 6 of 8 as the American Le Mans series stops for the first time at the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. At 7:30 am the temperature was 66 degrees with a slight fog. The forecast calls for partly cloudy with a high of 77 degrees with little or no chance of rain. Today’s times should be improved over yesterday’s test session.

Corvette Racing and Goodyear re-enacted their win in this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans in a photo shoot that was staged Thursday after the end of testing. Team members joined drivers Johnny O'Connell and Ron Fellows in the photos, which will be used in a national Goodyear Tires advertisement. The scene was meant to resemble the victory lane area at Le Mans.

BMW Team PTG has chosen veteran driver Peter Cunningham of West Bend, Wis., to substitute for the injured Bill Auberlen in the #10 BMW M3 GTR for the Mid-Ohio race. Auberlen suffered a concussion last Saturday at Mosport International Raceway in a practice accident and was advised to not race at either Mosport or Mid-Ohio. Joe Foster filled in last week, but is back in his regular ALMS ride in the Kyser Racing Porsche for this event. Cunningham has competed in 17 ALMS races with a best finish of second in the GT class on two occasions. He was driving a car fielded by BMW Team PTG in both events.
