13:01 - All 21 cars start the two green flag laps behind the pace car.
13:05 - Car 1 (Audi) runs wide at first turn and Car 2 nips through into the lead.
13:05 - Car 50 (Panoz) moves between the No 1 and No 2 Audis to move into 2nd place
13:07 - Car 1 (Audi) moves to inside of Car 50 (Panoz) forcing the Panoz onto grass.
13:07 - Car 7 (Audi) takes advantage of Car 50's trouble to move into 3rd.
13:10 - Order after 3 laps 2/1/7/50/51/5/32/57/41/26/42/43/22/23/66/60/44/52/65/61/64
13:10 - Car 42 (BMW) had moved ahead of teammate car 43 on opening lap.
13:13 - Car 2 (Audi) leads by 3.505 seconds over Car 1 (Audi)
13:13 - The two BMW M3's bumper to bumper as Dirk Muller puts JJ Lehto under immense pressure.
13:15 - Class leaders after 5 laps LMP900 - Car 2 / LMP675 - Car 5 (Reynard) / GTS -
13:17 - Car 1 (Audi) locks breaks while trying to pass car 57 (Reynard) allowing car 7 (Audi) to get past into 2nd place.
13:17 - Car 57 (Reynard) pulls off the circuit with smoke pouring from engine bay.
13:18 - Car 2 (Audi) Pirro is stretching lead to 6.448 seconds. Car 2 starting to lap back markers.
13:20 - Car 7 (Audi ) has closed gap to 4.786 seconds to race leader Car 2 (Audi).
13:21 - Car 43 (BMW) has passed Car 42 (BMW) to lead GT Class.
13:21 - Car 57 (Reynard) driver John Graham radioed pit to say car was on fire. Unaware of what has caused the problem at present.
13:23 - Car 50 (Panoz) and Car 51 (Panoz) running nose to tail. 24 seconds behind race leader.
13:25 - Car 51 (Panoz) moves ahead of Car 50 (Panoz) on lap 12

13:26 - Car 57 (Reynard) towed into the back of the pitlane.
13:28 - Car 22 (Porsche) and Car 23 (Porsche) running together
13:30 - Stop and go penalties posted for Cars 50, 51 & 2 for passing under yellow flags.
13:31 - Car 50 into pitlane for penalty
13:31 - Car 2 (Audi) into pitlane for penalty.
13:31 - Car 7 (Audi) goes into the lead.

13:33 - Car 50 (Panoz) back into pits for refuelling and all four tyres.

13:35 - Car 57 (Reynard) - Problem was caused by cockpit electrical fire. Tools have been given to the driver for him to work on the car as mechanics are unable to work on the car away from the pitlane.
13:36 - Car 42 (BMW) under some pressure from Car 23 (Porsche)
13:37 - Car 50 (Panoz) back into pit lane with possible steering problem.
13:38 - Car 51 (Panoz) running slowly out on the circuit. Pulls into the pitlane and straight into the garage.
13:40 - Car 50 (Panoz) rejoins four laps down.
13:41 - Car 51 (Panoz) Broken suspension rocker changed.
