JJ Lehto (#42-GT BMW M3) spent the evening with MTV, not Music Television, but Finland's commercial television network. JJ worked as a commentator for the Australian Grand Prix telecast providing his viewpoint long distance from Fort Worth to Helsinki Finland. Hans Stuck (#6-GT BMW M3) is also involved in F1 commentary working for German TV when time allows. He is also a regular newspaper columnist Germany's biggest newspaper, BILD.

At 1:00 the temperature is 61 degrees, clear skies with the wind out of the north at 9 mph. The track temperature is 73 degrees.

The following drivers will now be starting instead of the originally nominated driver: Andy Wallace (#38-P Audi R8), Johnny Mowlem (#30-GT Porsche 911 GT3-RS), Steven Knight (#11-P675 Lola B2K/40), Jeff Altenburg (#17-GT Chevrolet Corvette C5-R ) , Stefano Buttiero (#52-GT Porsche 911 GT3 RS), Johnny O'Connell (# 3-GTS Chevrolet Corvette C5-R)

At 1:07, car#1-P Audi R8 leads into the first turn (turn 3 since the chicane was not used for the start).
At 1:08, car #11-P675 Lola B2K/40 spun and continued at turn 5.
At 1:08, end of the first lap #51-P Panoz LMP-1 Roadster S has passed the #50-P Panoz LMP07 for second place overall.
At 1:13, car #17-GT Chevrolet Corvette C5-R into the pits. No #11-P675 Lola B2K/40 into the pits, reported overheating. The team is bleeding the cooling and adding water. Their goal is to complete 20 laps so that each driver can have the minimum 10 laps each for points.
At 1:18, car #51-P Panoz LMP-1 Roadster S reported smoking from the rear, probably a cone that was lodged, stopped smoking after loosing the cone.
At 1:21, car #11-P675 Lola B2K/40 is back on course.
At 1:21, car #17-GT Chevrolet Corvette C5-R into the pits. No driver change. Checked to see if a tire was going down. The car will be given a stop and go penalty for speeding in the pits.
At 1:24, car #17-GT Chevrolet Corvette C5-R into the pits. Changed the right rear tire.
At 1:26, car # 2-P Audi R8 has moved up to fifth overall after starting last.
At 1:27, car #17-GT Chevrolet Corvette C5-R into the pits for the stop and go penalty.
At 1:28, car #11-P675 Lola B2K/40 into the pits. No driver change.
At 1:29, car #12-GT (Lewis) Callaway C-12 R is stopped just past turn 3, driver is out of the car, apparent mechanical failure. Team reports a broken axle, car is out of the race.
At 1:33, car # 3-GTS Chevrolet Corvette C5-R is slowing on course (GTS leader) with a right rear tire failure. # 4-GTS Chevrolet Corvette C5-R takes the lead in the GTS class.
At 1:34, car # 2-P Audi R8 has moved up to fourth place overall, passing the #38-P Audi R8.
At 1:36, car # 3-GTS Chevrolet Corvette C5-R into the pits. No driver change, tire change only. Speed limit violation exiting the pits, will be assessed a stop and go penalty.

At 1:37, top three by class:  #1-P Audi R8,  #50-P Panoz LMP07,  #51-P Panoz LMP-1 Roadster S:   #4-GTS Chevrolet Corvette C5-R,  #45-GTS Dodge Viper GTS-R,  #3-GTS Chevrolet Corvette C5-R;  #23-GT Porsche 911 GT3-RS,  #22-GT Porsche 911 GT3-RS,  #99-GT Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
