BRASELTON,
GA (October 4, 2001) – After some changes to the car this afternoon, the
#05 Park Place Racing/Fordahl Motorsports/Yokohama/Gatorz
Eyewear-sponsored Saleen S7 turned the fastest lap at the Road Atlanta
Motor Sports Center. After
running fourth fastest in the GTS class in yesterday’s practice, Park
Place Driver Chris Bingham is extremely pleased with this afternoon’s
run. “We
were happy with our time yesterday,” Bingham said.
“But we made some changes today that put us at the top of our
class.” “We
felt confident with our set up, but we knew with three pro drivers in the
car we needed the same advantage as the other teams,” Bingham said. We
knew we needed to switch to the carbon brakes.” In
addition to switching the brakes, the Park Place team added downforce to
the car made some small suspension adjustments. Englishman
Oliver Gavin was aboard the #05 Saleen when it turned a 1:21.1, putting
the team on top of the GTS class. “We
are all getting used to the track again,” Gavin said.
“Chris, Ron and myself haven’t been around this track in a few
years. We are also still getting dialed into the car with the new
changes.” The
Park Place team will be back on the track from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. this evening.
Qualifying will be held tomorrow afternoon from 4:15 p.m. – 4:45
p.m. The Audi Petit Le Mans will be held October 6, beginning at 12:00 noon EDT. For more information on the event, please visit www.americanlemans.com and for more information on Park Place Racing, visit www.parkplaceltd.com. |
