Pescarolo Sport - Appeal Upheld (Revised Estoril European Le Mans Series Results)

Brackley, UK, Monday 20th August 2001:  Following the exclusion of Car 72, Pescarolo Sport, from the Round 3 race classification of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) at Circuito do Estoril on Sunday 15th July, a letter of appeal was sent by Henri Pescarolo to the Federacao Portuguesa de Automobilismo e Karting (FPAK).

A hearing was subsequently heard at the FPAK National Appeal Court, during which the procedures that had been taken by the Stewards of the Meeting to disqualify Pescarolo Sport were reviewed.  In particular, the National Appeal Court took into account;

- The Pescarolo Sport Team Representative (Henri Pescarolo) not being consulted by the Stewards of the Meeting prior to the exclusion of Car 72

- The non-conclusive evidence in respect of Car 72 ignoring the Blue Flag during the course of the event

After careful deliberation it was the decision of the National Appeal Court to uphold the appeal of Pescarolo Sport, and Car 72 is therefore reinstated as the overall winner of Round 3 of the ELMS.
