ALEX JOB RACING, McKENNA PORSCHE HEAD INTO THE GRAND PRIX OF PORTLAND WITH
GT CLASS POINTS LEAD
Portland, OR - August 2, 2001- The racing team of Alex Job Racing, McKenna
Porsche heads north from Sears Point into the beautiful Pacific North West
with the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) GT class points lead intact.
By virtue of winning the first two ALMS races this season, co-drivers of
the # 23 McKenna Porsche sponsored 911 GT3 RS Porsche, Sascha Maassen and
Lucas Luhr remain in first and second place respectively. They lead their
closest two BMW rivals by six points each. Randy Pobst and Christen Menzel
who share driving duties in the identically prepared and sponsored #22 911
GT3 RS, are tied for seventh place, just 15 points back from the leader,
Maassen.
The four drivers and their corresponding crews look forward to the
challenges the Grand Prix of Portland presents as well as the competition
from the faster V8 powered competition from BMW.
"Our game plan is the same as it was in Sears Point two weeks
ago," said team owner Alex Job. "We need to make sure we prepare
our cars as well as we know how, make sure we don't make any mistakes, and
push the BMW's just as hard as we can. We have been successful with a
slower car so far, but the two BMW teams will continue to develop, so we
have to keep maximizing our cars and our team work."
Qualifying for the Grand Prix of Portland takes place Saturday August 4th,
at 5:40 pm, Pacific Time with the start of the race at 1 pm, Sunday August
5th. Speedvision will be broadcasting the 2 hour, 45 minute race on Monday
August 6th, at 5:30 PM Pacific Time. Please check your local listings for
the time in your location. In addition, the American Le Mans Radio Network
will carry the qualifying as well as the race live on the internet. Check
the web site www.americanlemans.com
for more information.
Now in its 13th year of competition, Alex Job Racing (AJR) is one of the
premier independent Porsche teams in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
Based in a brand new 16,000 sq. ft. facility in Tavares, Florida, AJR
entries have tallied three victories in the 12 Hours of Sebring, one win
in the 24 Hours of Daytona, ten ALMS wins and captured the 1999 ALMS GT
Driver and Manufacturer Championships.
