ALEX JOB RACING, McKENNA PORSCHE PREPARED TO BATTLE SEARS POINT
RACETRACK, TWO ADDITIONAL BMW V8 M3'S
Sonoma, CA - July 19, 2001- After the long American Le Mans Series (ALMS)
scheduling break, the Alex Job Racing, Team McKenna Porsche team is eager
to resume the GT class championship battle here at the 2.52 mile northern
California road course.
"Sears Point is one of our favorite tracks; we really enjoy the
Northern California swing of the ALMS," said team owner Alex Job.
"Even though the BMW's have done well here in the recent past, and it
is one of their strongest tracks, we still look forward to the challenge
of the Sonoma circuit and like the surrounding Napa Valley area very
much."
Driving two identical 911 GT3 RS Porsche race cars, Sascha Maassen, Lucas
Luhr (co-drivers for the #23), Randy Pobst, and Christen Menzel
(co-drivers for the # 22) currently sit one through four in the GT
standings, respectively. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS's they pilot are derived
from the same 911 you can purchase from Porsche for the street.
Although undefeated in the ALMS so far this year, the competition for the
Alex Job Racing, McKenna Porsche team is getting stronger every race. For
the X-Factor Grand Prix of Sonoma, BMW has added two more of the
controversial, and fast, BMW V8 M3's to their line up, bringing the total
to four.
"We work very hard on our McKenna Porsche-sponsored race cars,"
Job said. "Even though it seems like BMW is allowed to bring in a
"one off" race car to the production class we compete in, we
continue to try and maximize each and every component of our production
based racecars. The crew has outdone themselves yet again preparing the
cars, and when we show up at the track we expect to win, just the same as
always."
The X-Factor Grand Prix of Sonoma will be televised live on NBC, Sunday,
July 22nd at 4:00 pm, EST. Please check your local listing for times in
your area. The race will also be broadcast
live on the American Le Mans Radio Network, which can be found on the
world wide web at: www.americanlemans.com
Now in its 13th year of competition, Alex Job Racing (AJR) is one of the
premier independent Porsche teams in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
Based in a brand new 16,000 sq. ft. facility in Tavares, Florida, AJR
entries have tallied three victories in the 12 Hours of Sebring, one win
in the 24 Hours of Daytona, ten ALMS wins and captured the 1999 ALMS GT
Driver and Manufacturer Championships.
