- - PRESS INFORMATION - - EUROPEAN LE MANS SERIES - 2002 UPDATE! Brackley, UK, Thursday 28th June 2001 - From John Macdonald, Executive Director, European Le Mans Series: As we approach the halfway stage of our first season we feel extremely pleased with the progress that has been made. Two competitive races, large and enthusiastic crowds and a strong television / media package are now established features of The Series. We are continuing to work hard to ensure that the European Le Mans Series becomes synonymous with the best attended, best promoted and most exciting sportscar racing in Europe, both during the remaining races of our inaugural season as well as in the years ahead. We have already received numerous enquiries from manufacturers, teams - many of whom are competing outside of the ELMS - and circuits throughout Europe who want to be part of the continuation of this success story in 2002. With only two races completed out of a five race Series we are not ready to make announcements relating to next year's programme but, rest assured, when we do they will reflect our ambition to continue to build the European Le Mans Series upon the positive foundations that have been laid this season. For now we are concentrating all our energies on the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2002 ELMS qualifying race at Circuito do Estoril, Portugal (14/15 July), where another strong television and supporting media package has been secured. Two weeks later we travel to Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic (4/5 August), where a crowd of no less than 50,000 is expected. On behalf of all of us involved with the European Le Mans Series, thank you for your assistance and support during this exciting first season. We look forward to working with you through this season and for years to come. - ENDS - For further information contact; Martin Allerton, Press and Promotions Co-ordinator, European Le Mans Series Telephone : +44 (0)1242 268980 Facsimile : +44 (0)1242 268981 Email : Martin@elms2001.com |
