5879 Fredericksburg Dr.
615-665-2641 The first privateer Corvette C5-R was at Road Atlanta for testing February 18th and 19th. Driven by Jeff Altenburg, last year’s Rookie of the Year in TransAm, B.J. Zacharias, two-time SCCA National Champion, Team Green participant, and Owen Trinkler, another seasoned SCCA driver and Team Green participant. Altenburg commented that “Right out of the box, the Trinkler Corvette was fast, very well-behaved, and I think it’s gonna be a winner shortly!” Sr. Editor of “Vette Views” was there to get a first look at the car, Laenvi enthusiastically stated “I think it’s hot and will really bring results as far as competition is concerned—the car has fabulous potential.” The Trinkler Corvette C5-R has a Pratt & Miller chassis designed to ACO regulations for the GT class. The team spent much of last year getting it homologated with the ACO and approved by Professional Sports Car. It is a brand new car, one of a kind, for them and will make its debut at the Leather Center Grand Prix of Texas – Texas Motor Speedway, March 2-4, 2001, followed two weeks later by the 49th annual running of the Superflo 12 Hours at Sebring on March 17. The car is run by Phil Creighton Motorsports in Alpharetta, Georgia, engineered by Rosella Manfriatto. Their goal is to offer these as a customer car as an alternative to the Porsche and BMW for the GT class. At Road Atlanta, lap times for the Trinkler Corvette were confirmed at 1:24.5 seriously challenging the seasoned Porsche and BMW. Laenvi stated further that “. . . any sponsor who puts their name on this car will benefit greatly—the car is remarkable.” Sponsorship and driver opportunities are still available for the Trinkler Corvette—contact them at TrinklerRacing@aol.com for more information.
