SEBRING, FL. -- The
much-anticipated North American debut
of the Bentley Speed 8 Prototype in
next weekend's Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of
Sebring came even closer Friday when
the two British-green racing machines
made laps of the historic racing
circuit in a private testing session.
The
Bentleys were joined by several other
cars in an all-day session, including
the Infineon Team Joest Audi R8, the
ADT Champion Racing Audi R8 and the
Doran-Lista Dallara-MG.
David
Brabham, Johnny Herbert and Mark
Blundell, all former Formula One
drivers, will share one of the
Bentley's in the 12-hour endurance
race on March 15, while Tom Kristensen,
Rinaldo Capello and Guy Smith will
drive the other. The race will open
the 2003 season for the American Le
Mans Series.
Former
Sebring winner Frank Biela tested the
Infineon Team Joest Audi with
co-drivers Phillip Peter and Marco
Werner as the team seeks its fourth
consecutive overall win at Sebring.
Stefan Johansson, Emanuele Pirro and
JJ Lehto were in the ADT Champion
Audi, while Didier Theys, Eric van de
Poele and Fredy Lienhard tested the
Doran-Lista machine.
